Hi everyone! I hope you all had a great weekend and found someway to enjoy this cold weather!! It seems as though fall decided to take a break and let winter take over for a bit. I am having a serious problem with this! However this weekend I had a relaxing few days back in Connecticut visiting my family. On Sunday my mom and I met my friend Erin and her mom for brunch in Bryant Park. This brunch date has become a tradition that the four of us do around this time of year. I wanted to show you guys my outfit for our brunch date and for the rest of the day! I hope you all enjoy!

Brunch is one of my favorite meals because it is usually an excuse to get dressed up. Heels are also very appropriate for brunch which is another reason why I love it! This outfit is almost all made up of clothes that live in the back of my closet. I have had these pants for over 5 years and I still love when I get to wear them. This season mixing patterns is a big trend and I played with that look for brunch. I matched these blush colored lace pants with a blue and purple plaid shirt. This shirt is clearly 100% sheer so I decided to wear a maroon bralette to match the deep purples in the shirt. I also tucked the shirt in to give myself a bit more of a defined shape.
These pants are very comfortable, as they are loose and high waisted and gradually get tighter down my legs. I tend to tuck in my tops when I wear pants like this because I like having a defined waist when wearing anything high waisted. Having a defined waist line is important if you want to slim yourself out as well.
This shirt is the only thing that I have not had for that long. I bought this shirt about a year ago and have never worn it until this day. I love how simple it is yet is definitely a statement piece. I decided that adding a bralette under the shirt would make it day time appropriate. I got this bralette from Aerie and I highly recommend this store for undergarments.

This coat is another oldie of mine. I got it about 4 years ago and only wore a few times until recently. I found it over the summer when I was going through my winter clothes and fell in love with it all over again. It is oversized which I love and I can wear it draped over my shoulders like I did for brunch. Adding a coat over your shoulders looks classy and effortless while still adding a bit of sexiness to the look. Not to mention it is so comfortable and warm. I chose this coat to wear because the neutral tones of the wool added a bit of dimension to the overall look. It tied all of the colors together. Since my shirt had blues in it I decided to carry my navy blue Chanel bag with me to bring out some color as well.
I chose these shoes mostly because they were the only fall/winter heels I found in my closet since I forgot to pack heels with me from school. I then noticed that they would be perfect since they kept with the neutral tones of the outfit. The chocolate brown leather detailing on the shoe matched the dark brown buttons of my coat perfectly as well. Subtle matching details like this and the blue from my shirt and my bag, is an easy way to make an outfit cohesive. Matching too much can be dull, so a trick is to take certain colors from the outfit and match accessories with it. Try this trick sometime, I promise it will work!
I think this shirt is too beautiful to not show without the coat on. I did take my coat off during brunch and wanted to show you guys the outfit this way as well. I love the sheerness of the shirt while still showing the pattern of the fabric. Pairing two different patterns together can be tricky and can become a hot mess very quickly. However, if you do want to match patterns try taking one subtle pattern and one bold pattern to start with. As you gradually become more confident rocking bold statements you can try for two bold patterns and you'll have a statement look!
I hope you all enjoyed this post as much as I enjoyed the day I wore this outfit! I look forward to being back with you guys next week and I hope your week is wonderful! Bye dolls!!
