Welcome back to Louboutin'd and Blonde and welcome to 2014! Another year of fashion is ahead of us and I can not wait to share it with you all ! I hope everyone enjoyed the holidays and had fun dressing up over the past few weeks as much as I did. It has been close to a month since my last blog post, due to the holidays. Due to my absense I will be posting as much as I can over the next few weeks. This post was shot a few weeks ago and I am very excited to finally be posting it! I hope you all enjoy the first post of 2014!
Before I begin, I would like to introduce my model for this post, the flawless Cristina Wagner. Cristina was a trooper, as you can see we shot this photo shoot in an impending snowstorm. She braved the conditions and made this shoot fabulous. She is wearing a tweed blazer from BCBG, a patterned shirt from JCrew; aztec patterned trousers from Lush and heeled/wedged sneakers from BCBG. My goal was to push boundaries with this outfit and Cristina was on board with it. The first step to pushing any kind of fashion "boundary" is making sure that you are comfortable with it. Wearing an outfit that may be out of the box, or out of your comfort zone can be intimidating. To avoid looking uncomfortable and showing that you may feel insecure, the secret is to wear things you're sure to ROCK! An outfit is only as good as the attitude you have underneath it.
When I put outfits together for my friends and for my blog, my personal style and taste can sometimes show through. I like to stick to embracing my friends personal style when I feature them in my blog! As you can see, I can not help but put my personal spin on all of the outfits that I feature or the outfits that I help them pick out for themselves. This post is very special because Cristina and I have very similar taste and style. I wanted to embrace these similarities as much as I could and this outfit is a good showpiece of that. I paired two very loud patterns together to show off a trend that I love this winter, which is mixing and matching patterns. Slouchy trousers are also in trend this winter and because they happened to be in this gorgeous aztec pattern they were perfect. I matched the trousers with a short-sleeved patterned shirt. The flowers on the shirt were a velvet material and looked great against the shiny material of the pants. The black and white in both the trousers and the shirt matched nicely and the colors complimented the busyness of the patterns.
Since I am absolutely obsessed with anything tweed, I knew I needed to feature this beautiful purple blazer that was hiding in the back of Cristina's closet. Purple clearly looks great on Cristina and blended in with the black and white color scheme of this outfit. When choosing a 'pop' color in a black and white outfit pick a color that compliments you. I thought purple looked great on Cristina and made her hair color pop and her skin glow.
I chose to put these heeled/wedged sneakers with this outfit to make it a bit edgy. Considering the snow, I wanted to keep the footwear practical. I had a few choices of black shoes in Cristinas closet, which were these sneakers, booties, or tall boots. I didn’t choose the booties, because I wanted a flat shoe without a cut out heel, to keep her from slipping on the snow. I then had a choice of a tall boot. I decided against those because I wanted to show off as much of the pattern as I could. The tall knee high boot against the busy pattern would have broken up her leg and made her look shorter than she is and would have cut off the pattern. I chose the wedged sneakers because they are trendy this winter and did not cut off any of the pattern in the pants. They have a flat bottom to keep her from slipping on the snow. Also the wedge gives Cristina added height, which elongates her legs.
