Hello beautiful people! Welcome back to L&B. This weeks post is a little different than normal. My good friend Kathleen has tagged me in a "blog hop", which is a fun way for bloggers and blog readers to explore new blogs. The tag is all about how I write and what my process is when I sit down and write a post. Kathleen's blog is a weekly fashion blog which highlights her outfit, hair and makeup called When Grey Skies Are You. She also speaks on daily life struggles, positivity and simply things that are on her mind. She is a great girl and I love her blog almost as much as I love her. So definitely check it out at www.whengreyskiesareyou.blogspot.com.
Instead of this post being all about the clothing, it is all about the jewelry. Jewelry is a girls best friend and I have learned that after 20 years of life it is a very loyal companion. I hope you all enjoy!

This outfit is very simple. I paired a long white skirt from H&M with a white top from Zara. I kept this look basic in order for the jewelry to pop. I wore an orange beaded necklace that I found in a boutique in Maine. I wore it backwards so it could drape down my back. Since my shirt was open I thought it was a cool and unique way to wear a simple necklace. Wearing the necklace this way transforms a simple outfit into a statement look.
Turning the necklace around also gives a bit of a "sneak peak" from the front as well. Having the closure of the necklace show on top of the shirt adds to the front of the outfit and I personally think the closure of this necklace is too beautiful to be stuck in the back unseen.
For my next look I paired these pearls from Forever 21, to create a dressier version of this look. Adding pearls to any outfit instantly creates a classier and more sophisticated vibe. I pulled inspiration for these two looks from the amazing Rachel Zoe's styling genius for Jennifer Lawrence at the 2013 Academy Awards.
A big trend this summer is layering accessories. However layering necklaces is something that can go terribly wrong very quickly. Choosing to layer necklaces is tricky and has a tendency to look messy if the wrong necklaces are chosen. I like to pull one or two colors from the statement piece and select a simpler necklace as its pair. I decided to wear a green and blue drop necklace from Charming Charlie's as my statement necklace. I then chose a smaller necklace with similar shades of blue from J.Crew. This layering is dramatic and eye catching, yet clean and not over done.
For my next and final look I kept it simple with some bracelets. I chose to wear these bracelets that I bought from Forever 21, Charming Charlie's and Francesca's. I picked red as the major color because I love red and white together. I then chose to wear a few daintier gold bracelets to accent the chunkier red ones. I also am wearing my Cartier Love bracelet and my grandmothers vintage evil eye bracelet which are two pieces I wear every day and do not take off. For my rings I am wearing a Cartier Love ring, my grandmothers vintage emerald ring, and a midi ring from TopShop.
I hope this post has been helpful and has shown that jewelry has the power to make any outfit beautiful and unique. I tend to not wear that much jewelry, so I love to experiment with it when I can! Now...on to the tag!!
What am I working on/writing?
I am currently working on expanding my blog and exploring fashion writing as much as possible. I love expressing my passion for fashion through writing in order for more people to feel inspired through fashion and the power it gives us to embrace our individuality. I hope to continue my blog and inspire people with it for years to come.
How does my work/writing differ from others of its genre?
I think the beauty of having a blog, regardless of the content is special and different. However, when I decided to create my fashion blog I knew I wanted it to be different than the other fashion blogs that I follow and love. I wanted my blog to be my "getting ready" thought process in writing. People tend to ask me "how would you think to put these things together?" and I wanted my blog to be the ultimate answer to that question. I want my blog to be a peak into how I view fashion trends and how/why I put certain things together. I want to help other people feel confident when they look into their closets every day.
How does my writing process work?
My writing process is very simple when I sit down and write a post. I choose a handful of pictures I like and think... show case the clothes as best as possible and begin explaining why I chose each piece that I'm wearing from head to toe. I have my best friend Michael take my pictures for me when I am at school and either my dad, who enjoys photography as his hobby, or my best friend Adriana shoot me when I'm back home. These photo shoots can take anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours depending on where I'm headed or how well the photos are coming out. I tend to scan through the photos the same day as the shoot and leave them alone for about a day. I typically write the post the night before it goes live. I like to write the post very close to the publishing time because I fall in love with the clothes all over again.
Why do I write what I do?
I write what I love, it's as simple as that. I am a hopeless romantic in every aspect of the phrase. Fashion is my first love and has been for my entire life. I have yet to find a greater love than fashion. It has helped me discover who I am as a person and has helped guide me to where I am today. I write about fashion in hopes that the inspiration and the love that I have for it can reach at least one other person. I hope when people read my blog they fall in love with whatever they hopelessly love all over again and remember that life is about loving things wholeheartedly and being inspired. Fashion is what I am good at and it is what brings me the greatest joy, which is why I write what I do.
