Lets start this off with a proper introduction ~ My name is Jacquelyn and I have an uncontrollable desire for the fashion industry. I have been a fashion guru since the age of four and it never seemed to wear off. Years have passed, trends have faded, goals have been conquered and lost, friends have come and gone, high school has came and went, hearts have been broken and mended and the one thing that has never left, that has never made me cry, and that has never made me feel more alive is fashion. Fashion is forever and i have finally understood that.
I have been blessed to have the most amazing and supportive family throughout my 21 years. They have supported every step I have taken toward my future in the fashion industry. My brother has endured years of talk about the runway, and pronunciation corrections I have thoughtfully given him on designers at the dinner table. My dad has supported my use of his credit card on more than one shopping spree, and my mother has been my bestfriend, my critic, and my inspiration through it all.
With the mushy family love out of the way, I'd like to describe (as best i can) my personal style. First, I'd like to mention that personal style is something I have always had a hard time with describing. My friends who ask me to take them shopping because they love "my style" make me blush, however I never know exactly what they mean. Style is never the same thing twice. It is purely individual and should always be treated as such. However, if I did have to pin-point "my style" into words I would have to say... "city girl-chic." Now that doesnt exactly paint a detailed picture of what the inside of my closet looks like. However, i dress based on my mood. I like dresses and bows and glitter as much as the next girl, however i like leather and beanies and boots just as much. My mood dictates what I wear and it makes getting up and getting dressed so unpredicatable and fun.
My inspirations in fashion begin with my mother of course. I have learned so much from her. What fits my body type and how to dress to flatter my figure I have to thank my mom for showing me the ins and outs of that field. My next inspiration is Coco Chanel, the queen of fashion. I have read just about every book on her and her life. She changed the industry and turned heads while doing it. Rachel Zoe is my idol and someone I look up to. I follow her work and strive to one day be as successful as she is. She has branded her life's passion for fashion and created a muli-million dollar company. She is a force to be reckon with in the fashion world. Now to my fictional inspiration. Blair Waldorf, from the popular show, Gossip Girl, is next on my list. Blair embodies class in the way she dresses. She dresses to impress everyday and that is something I think every girl should do. Blair does not allow others to influence the way she dresses. She dresses the way she wants and that is the way fashion should be. Her accessories are simple and always sparkly (NEVER a bad thing :)) I think having someone to look up to is wonderful when it comes to fashion. It serves as a guiding light for young girls, and helps create a personal style. Fashion has allowed me to find who I am as a person. I have dabbled in almost every trend there was in the last 19 years. I have finally decided on who I am, and I LOVE it. EMBRACE YOURSELVES!!
Hopefully this blog will give you insight into how my mind works when putting an outfit together and help you understand me and my style a little better. I also hope this blog is a way for you to be creative the next time you get dressed. With that, this blog is fun and light and a place to explore who you are and what you like in the world of fashion. Also, I hope this helps you use fashion and clothes to express yourself and who you are, and not to be afraid to go outside the box. So sit back and explore with me.
Enjoy~
Simply, Jacquelyn
