I admire menswear. I am lucky enough to have a brother that is extremely fashion-forward (when he wants to be).
Menswear is quite daunting to me. This is because, being born and raised in Connecticut, I am quite fond of the Vineyard Vines man, and I love to see a horse on a mans shirt pocket. However, prep only goes so far in the fashion industry and this has become a challenge for me since moving to New York City. (more posts to come on the sexy, street man of New York City... :)
Now for my brothers look. Rain should never put a damper on our plans for a fun night out, and it should not limit the fun we can have with an outfit. I chose a pair of slate grey linen pants for my brother (Christian). Linen is such a life-saver in the summer, especially at night when the temperatures dip a little bit, and not to mention, linen is one of the most comfortable fabrics. Men tend to like fabrics like linen in the summer months since it is light and loose. Linen pants or a loose fitting linen shirt is great for the beach, or dinner. It's versatile and looks great with almost anything. (Men like versatility as us women know). I paired a plain black, J-Crew t-shirt with the pants and threw a plaid scarf around his neck for a pop of color and to liven up the look. Scarves are one of the easiest ways to brighten up a look without over doing an outfit with accessories. Menswear is incorporating the scarf into so many runway shows and designers are playing with them perfectly. Alexander McQueen and Rag&Bone are two of my favorites for mens scarves right now. Moving on, I had Christian wear his Burberry trench coat, (and who doesn't love an excuse to wear a trench). It is summer and temperatures aren't too low, so I paired my brothers favorite pair of Espadrilles with this outfit. He has these shoes in a variety of colors, but since I am a matching fanatic, I went with the black pair. Now my brother insisted on topping off this look with his English drivers cap. I think that it goes quite well with the outfit and proves that no matter who dresses you, always put your personal touch on it. Every outfit you wear should, in some way, say something about yourself. So hats off to Christian for his touch on completing this look.
Until next time
Simply, Jacquelyn
