Hello my beautiful people! Oh how I've missed you! I hope you're all doing wonderfully! Last week I went on a little getaway with my mom and one of my best friends Erin. We took a trip down to the Dominican Republic to Punta Cana. It was simply paradise. We drank tropical drinks, took walks on the white sand beach, swam in crystal clear water, parasailed, zip-lined, learned how to salsa dance and laughed until we cried. It was so much fun and of course, I snuck in a blog post while I was there. One of the nights we were there, the three of us decided to get extra dressed up for the night and this post is all about the outfit I decided to wear! I hope you all like it!!
As you can see, since I was away in a tropical place my outfits for night-time were very colorful and fun. Vacation is one of my favorite things to dress for because there are no boundaries and the more color the better! I chose these pants for many reasons. First, the pants are extremely comfortable and light weight. The heat and humidity in Punta Cana is incredibly high which makes wearing tight clothes uncomfortable which is something I try to stay away from on vacay. This was the first time I've worn these pants and I've had them for a year or so. I purchased these beautifully patterned pants on ShopHopes.com. The clothes on this website are gorgeous and reasonably prices as well, I highly recommend it.
The leg of the pants are very wide which made me look shorter than I am and did not do much for my figure. However when I was packing I decided to grab some of the material at the bottom of the pants and tie it up in a small knot. This instantly created a tapered bottom instead of the extreme wide leg as they were before. I tied the knot with a clear hair tie to hide it. This was an innovative way for me to finally be able to wear these pants and have them finally look flattering. I also think that the knot at the bottom makes the pants look even more unique and one of a kind (which I obviously love!!).
I also paired these white open toed heels by Jessica Simpson with the look. These were my first "big girl" pair of heels and they are still one of my favorite pairs in my collection. They are very comfortable and the cork heel is perfect for a summer outfit like this one!

My shirt is also from ShopHopes.com (I really love this website). This is one of my favorite shades of blue and it matched perfectly with the blue in my pants, which made this pairing easy. The shirt is open in the back and buttons only at the neck which creates a draping affect down the back. There is a small zip at the bottom of the shirt that tightens at the high point on the waist. This part of the shirt is great because is gives the body shape. When you are wearing a looser bottom you want your top to be tighter. This contrast is important because it shows off the curves of your body and gives you some shape. Having a looser bottom can at times make someone look a bit bigger than they are, so having a tighter top will show off your waist and allow the body to look proportionate. I also love the higher neck on this top, because it draws attention to the face. I did get my hair braided on vacation with Erin so the high neck drew attention to our new hair-dos.
HOW BEAUTIFUL IS ERIN! She's going to kill me for including this photo, but I couldn't resist. She's a beauty. We also match, so go us!!!
I added my favorite new clutch with this outfit (I also wore this clutch in my last post)!! The bright neon color matched with all of my tropical outfits and I usually like to only bring one smallish bag with me on vacation that will match with most, if not all of the looks I packed, keeping it simple and light.
I hope you all enjoyed this tropical post! I am already having some post vacation depression and can not wait until next summer when the three of us hopefully head back to a white sand beach! Have a fantastic week and I can't wait to be back with you all next week here on L&B!
